Frozen

Hi everyone!
As I start to type this I feel like this snow has been brought on by our theme day of Frozen. What a fun day it has been. We even had Elsa and Ana at our assembly this morning. Congratulations to Noah who won the character ed award for Honesty. I think the kids were glad I didn't sing 'Let it go,' - however, the day is not done yet... ( I wrote this during the day, clearly I didn't get a chance to finish the post...)

This has been a fast week! We continue to work on our dinosaur reports. They are coming together nicely. We will start our final best draft next week. We have been working through the writing process with this research project.  From collecting jot notes to writing the polished final. I know that we have all learned so much already. The dinosaurs were/ are so fascinating. Our next step will be to make videos of what we learned.

We have finished up our mass and capacity unit as well. We worked with a lot of different kinds of measures these last few weeks. Students had a chance to measure their shoe perimeter and the area inside using small and big blocks. We compared the capacity of containers using a variety of math tools (blocks, dominoes, foam dice).

ZUMBA- We start  Zumba next Friday. Please make sure that you have signed the permission form and returned the fee of $4.oo.  If you have any questions please let me know.

100th Day- According to my calculations the 100th day of learning is Monday, Feb. 9. Our class and some of the other primary classes are going to celebrate one hundred days of learning on Friday, Feb. 6. We will be doing a variety of themed activities, but I'd like you to help your child dress up like how they think they would look at 100!  The class and I will be talking about this on Monday, but I wanted to give you a heads up. I think it will be really funny to see everyone all dressed up as 100 year olds!

Dance-a-thon- Thursday, Feb. 12. Did you get a pledge sheet?

That's all for now. Just a reminder that tomorrow is a PD Day. Enjoy your weekend!
Ms. Rogers
